I wanted to work on improving my physical fitness, decreasing my risk for high blood pressure and diabetes, and decreasing joint pain caused by excess weight. I visited Perla del Pino-White, DO, at the City of Fort Lauderdale Health and Wellness Center to address chronic joint pain in my hips and knees. I felt fatigued on a daily basis and was concerned because of my family history of high blood pressure and diabetes. I had a difficult time climbing stairs while at work and I struggled to initiate a weight-loss program because I was tired before even starting.

I understood that I needed a weight-loss program to assist in resolving some of my health concerns. Perla was the cheerleader that I needed to jump-start my weight-loss program. She provided me with encouragement and discussed healthy meal options and simple exercise programs that I was able to stick with. She encouraged me to celebrate the small accomplishments, and that motivated me to continue working toward my overall goal.

Today, I am as healthy as I was in my early 20s. My blood pressure is great and I am now eating to live, and loving it. Now I take the stairs because I am able to do so without joint pain.
