I have been overweight for the majority of my life. Being overweight impacted me mentally, resulting in a lack of confidence, and physically, causing knee and joint pain.

When I went in to see Monique Jefferson, MD, at the Nease Wellness Center, I was initially apprehensive, as I had not had many positive experiences with doctors in the past. However, it didn’t take long for me to discover how wonderful Monique is. I was blown away by the quality of care I received when I went to see her for health coaching. She applauded my successes with weight loss and gave me ideas for snacks and healthy meals I could incorporate into my routine. She listened and made me feel like this was a challenge I could overcome!

Since starting health coaching in 2017, I have lost over 40 pounds. I joined a gym and see a personal trainer twice a week. I continue to gain confidence in the gym as my strength and energy increase. I am much healthier today and see results every month! Doing meal prep on Sundays has become a part of my routine that I looked forward to and it keeps me on track the whole week.

I always thought losing weight was about loss – the loss of inches, pounds, and delicious foods. I realize now that this lifestyle is all about what you GAIN. I am gaining confidence, mental and physical strength, knowledge, and new friends.
