I have a history of bipolar depression and generalized anxiety disorder. In 2019, I went off my medication for several months and began to feel overwhelmed. The anxiety was negatively affecting my relationships, and I was having trouble focusing and controlling my anger. I was in a constant state of worry. I called my mental health provider, but they were scheduling appointments three months out.

I decided to visit the We Care Wellness Center to see if the staff there could help me. I met with Trina McMillan, FNP, and we strategized different ways to manage my anxiety. She prescribed medication to manage my symptoms and continued to meet with me weekly. I like comedy and writing jokes, so Trina encouraged me to use this creative outlet for when I felt worried. I also started boxing as a way to get out stress.

Today, my behavior and overall health have greatly improved. My tone and attitude are more positive, I eat healthier foods, and I continue to box for exercise. I have mended my relationship with my father, am working to improve my relationship with a long-time friend, and have taken on more responsibility at work. My anxiety has reduced from 10+/10 to 2/10!
