Twenty years ago, I tore ligaments in my knee as the result of a workplace injury and needed three surgeries to be able to walk again. For years, extreme pain prevented me from walking prolonged distances. I gained weight, and had high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Knowing heart disease runs in my family, this scared me.

So, I decided to see Susan Hellman, RN health coach, at the HealthQuest Health Center. She helped me get motivated, provided strategies to overcome challenges, and recommended the MyFitnessPal app, which was a total game changer. Susan has been my biggest cheerleader – she always listens to my concerns and gives me great advice to keep going. It has been life changing.

My health has improved dramatically. I now have a better grasp on portion control and healthy eating, I walk 3-4 miles a day, and have lost 14 pounds. I sleep soundly and feel better throughout the day. I’ve lowered my cholesterol and blood pressure, and have more energy, which allows me to do the things I love. At work, I accomplish more because I’m focused and energized, and my bosses have taken notice! I don’t worry as much about my family history affecting me because I am taking charge of my future.

I’m so glad I sought advice from the staff at HealthQuest. They have so much knowledge to share and it doesn’t cost a thing! I’ve had knee surgeries, pneumonia, and have been in intensive therapy for moderate scoliosis and degenerative disk disease – if I can do it, anybody can. I’m going to be 60 years old and haven’t felt this good in 20 years.
