I have had asthma since I was a child, but I hadn’t used an inhaler for years. When a cold virus attacked my lungs, I had difficulty breathing, was having trouble sleeping, and didn’t have the energy I normally did to perform simple tasks. I was miserable.
I went to the St. Johns County School District’s Nease Wellness Center and met with Andrew Neal, FNP. He administered a breathing treatment to help open my airways back up. When I asked, he gave me an in-depth explanation of what was happening to my lungs. I value knowing what’s going on with my body and Andrew was willing to take the time to assist me in understanding my
situation. I left the wellness center with a new inhaler, anti-inflammatory medication, and the confidence that I fully understood how to manage my condition.
As a member of the Army National Guard, it is important for me to be at my best. After meeting with Andrew, I could feel the life coming back into my body. The thorough care Andrew provided helped restore the energy I needed to do my job again.
My experience at the Nease Wellness Center taught me that I don’t need to be alone on my healthcare journey. No matter your age or current health status, if you’re having an issue, go and see your medical provider. They may have just the solution you need!
