Ken Hediger

Ken is a 55-year-old Accellent employee who visited the on-site clinic at the Brooklyn Park, MN, facility in March of 2009 following a personal invitation from a Marathon Health clinic staff member who was circulating throughout the facility. Ken did not have a primary care provider and had not had preventative care in over 20 years. After a comprehensive health review and subsequent regular health coaching, Ken lost 100 pounds, reduced his BMI from 43 to 29.6, went from being pre-diabetic to having a fasting blood sugar within target range, and reduced his hypertensive blood pressure to within target range. He now regularly rides his bike for exercise.

Brenda Meader

Brenda Meader is a 39-year-old New Balance employee who began using the Norridgewock, ME, on-site clinic in January of 2011 to participate in Marathon Health’s Biggest Loser Weight Loss Contest. Brenda had struggled with her weight most of her life. She had previously lost a lot of weight using Weight Watchers, but gained back more than 100 pounds in 2010 after she quit smoking and was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Through Marathon Health’s coaching program, Brenda changed her diet and began exercising. She lost 58.7 pounds in five months and was a finalist in the Biggest Loser contest.

Rodger Hyser

Rodger is a 46-year-old Accellent employee who first visited the company’s Brooklyn Park, MN, on-site clinic for a comprehensive health review in March of 2009. Through health coaching, he was able to quit smoking in December 2009 after years of smoking a pack a day. Rodger visited the clinic again in July of 2010 with questions about symptoms he was having, and was diagnosed with type II diabetes. Through the Disease Management program, he was able to bring his hemoglobin A1C from its initial value of 11.4 down to an impressive 5.7.

Amber Meunier

Amber is a 30-year-old New Balance employee who began using the Norridgewock, ME, on-site clinic in July of 2010. Amber weighed more than 230 pounds and wanted to lose weight. Through the health coaching program, she changed her diet and lost 51 pounds in six months. She now exercises regularly and rides her bikes six miles, three days per week. Amber is now doing more physical activities with her kids, and even ran alongside her son during his relay in his school’s fourth grade Olympics.

Mark Towle

Mark is a 56-year-old New Balance employee who began using the Norridgewock, ME, on-site clinic in November of 2010. In just six months, Mark lost 37 pounds and lowered his fasting blood glucose from a diabetic level of 133 to a normal level of 89 through regular exercise and changes in his diet. Mark continues to use the Marathon Health coaching program and visits the clinic regularly in order to stay on track.

James is asthmatic who was a heavy smoker and decided to visit the clinic after he had difficulty breathing after a day of skiing. James participated in the Marathon Health smoking cessation program and began using Chantix. He’s been smoke-free for six months now and has set new goals for himself to lose weight and exercise more.

Debby Poissonnier

Debby is a 55-year-old New Balance employee who began using the Norridgewock, ME, on-site clinic in April of 2010. Debby has a family history of hyperlipidemia and her primary care physician was ready to put her on cholesterol-lowering meds. Debby began coming in for health coaching, and through diet changes and exercise, lost 55 pounds, lowered her total cholesterol from a high of 206 to the normal range of 171, and lowered her fasting blood glucose from a diabetic level of 126 to a normal level of 99 – all in just six months.
