Ongoing learning and support

Each Marathon Health clinician undergoes a full month of start-up training before opening the onsite clinic. Training starts with a week at our corporate office where we cover our overall mission and values, policies and procedures, administrative responsibilities, marketing and communications, chart audits, workflow within our electronic medical record, motivational interviewing and mindfulness, and our account management program. During this week, clinicians have an opportunity to meet one-on-one with members of our leadership team.

Afterwards, clinicians complete one week of home study through webinars and telephone interaction with trainers, and complete homework assignments designed to help reinforce the prior week’s training. Then recruits spend a week shadowing other senior clinicians at an existing site that provides services for a client of similar culture, size and complexity, as well as similar scope of services. Finally, each clinician will spend a week in their clinic setting up for opening, familiarizing themselves with the client, and understanding the benefit plan design and services available.

Once the health center is up and running, the clinicians are engaged in continuous training throughout the year via bi-monthly webinars and conference calls led by experts in the field. Support also comes from weekly meetings with our chief clinical officer and our national director of clinical strategies to review procedure questions, new services, quality assurance programs, technology enhancements, and other administrative updates. And if clinicians feel like ever need further information, troubleshooting, or training, we’re always happy to provide it.
